Silverstone Secures MotoGP Future with New Two-Year Contract Extension

Silverstone CircuitVenue·Silverstone Circuit will continue to host the British Grand PrixCompetition·British Grand Prix for MotoGPCompetition·MotoGP, following the announcement of a new two-year contract extension. The agreement, confirmed on the eve of the 2026 British Grand PrixCompetition·British Grand Prix, secures the iconic British track's place on the MotoGPCompetition·MotoGP calendar for the 2027 and 2028 seasons.

This extension reinforces Silverstone's position as a premier venue for international motorsport. The circuit returned to the MotoGPCompetition·MotoGP calendar in 2010, taking over from Donington ParkVenue·Donington Park as the host of the British Grand PrixCompetition·British Grand Prix. Over the years, various proposals for alternative venues, including the unbuilt Circuit of WalesVenue·Circuit of Wales, emerged, but Silverstone consistently maintained its role.

Carmelo EzpeletaCoach·Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of MotoGPCompetition·MotoGP Group, underscored the significance of the United Kingdom market for the championship. "The United Kingdom has a rich heritage in motorcycle racing and remains one of the most important markets for MotoGPCompetition·MotoGP," Ezpeleta stated. He further highlighted the strong partnership forged since 2010, which has delivered "several unforgettable British Grand PrixCompetition·British Grand Prix weekends." Ezpeleta praised Silverstone as a "fantastic stage for MotoGPCompetition·MotoGP," citing the remarkable statistic of 11 different winners in the last 11 Grand Prix races at the circuit as testament to the quality, competitiveness, and unpredictability of the racing.
